Exhibit Disposition

The Eighth Judicial District will dispose of exhibits pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 108.

Civil Exhibits

Please be aware that any civil exhibits, unless withdrawn by counsel, may be destroyed or disposed of 60 days after the judgment becomes final, including expiration of time for appeal. Further notice to counsel will not be given by the Clerk’s office.

Exhibits Resulting in Conviction or Adjudication

Criminal and juvenile exhibits in cases resulting in conviction or adjudication will be destroyed or disposed of following notice to counsel and an order by the Chief Judge if the destruction date is before the completion of a sentence and discharge of the defendant.

Destruction Date Exceded or No Conviction

If the destruction date exceeds the completion of a sentence and discharge of the defendant, or there was no conviction, exhibits may be destroyed 60 days following the discharge of the defendant or the final disposition of the case including expiration of time for appeal. If this is the case, there will be no further notice given.
